Filtrix version 4.0

Blueberry's Filtrix 4.0 translates data among various application program formats. It is available for the Sun (Sun OS and Solaris, OPEN LOOK and Motif) with a fixed license version only.

New in version 4 are Word 97 import, HTML import/export, and WordPerfect 8 import/export, along with 24 bit raster support for Interleaf 6.

Version 3.5.4 added support for HTML 4.0 and improved handling of HTML tables, character style support for WordPerfect and FrameMaker (source and target) and Interleaf and HTML (target files), correction of mistaken identification of many source formats, and an expanded range of graphic fill pattern shading values.

Version 3.5.3 added linked graphics for conversion of Word 97 source files, and FrameMaker or Applix Words target files. Table of Contents markers are now supported bidirectionally for WordPerfect 6/7/8 and MS Word 6/7/97, and for FrameMaker source files.

Filtrix converts text, tables, graphics, and headers/footers among Applix Words, FrameMaker, HTML, Interleaf, Word for Windows, and WordPerfect. The other formats listed below support text and various levels of graphics and tables.

For example, Word for Windows files can be translated into FrameMaker, Interleaf, IslandWrite, or WordPerfect format, but WordPerfect, Interleaf, or FrameMaker files cannot be translated into Multimate.

Filtrix is easy to install and use, does not require programming experience, and is designed for use by adminstrative personnel. A user need only know the names of the host and target application programs and identify the files that are to be translated.

The program assumes that data from various source operating systems and application programs are present on the machine on which it is installed. In other words, Filtrix assumes data transport has already taken place when it is invoked, and does not itself directly address SCSI devices or networks. Filtrix works across NFS mounted filesystems.
